Description
"They say that when donkeys are doing too well, they go sliding. I know something about that. One day, my husband and I found ourselves on the ice rink just like those donkeys," claims Heda Záborská, the storyteller of the tale, at the beginning. With her husband and two adult daughters, they live an ordinary life full of everyday worries. However, that is only until Heda decides to get back the money she lent to her former lover. Instead, she witnesses his murder. That is when a chain of events begins that will change Heda's life over the course of a year and culminate in a surprising resolution. Because, in the words of the main character: "The happy period when one believes that nothing bad can happen ends when one realizes that anything can happen."
