Útěk do pekla – Šebo Juraj (2021)

In the military history of the 20th century, we probably won't find many topics that evoke as much interest as Himmler's Waffen-SS. It is debatable whether this interest is fueled by admiration or shame. The Waffen-SS will likely forever be a source of controversy. They are criticized for their brutality and loyalty to the Nazi regime. On the other hand, their positive values, such as military camaraderie, bravery, and reliability, are not forgotten. The Waffen-SS served a criminal regime, yet their high combat value is a fact. A total of 8,200 citizens of the Slovak state were conscripted into the Waffen-SS, which is not an insignificant number. One of them was Gustav Wendrinský. And he was not just any ordinary soldier. His story is meant for all those interested in learning about history as it truly was. Many books have been written about the flying aces, exceptionally successful combat pilots from World War II. Most of them are by German authors. Their heroes board planes and head towards enemy armories, fortresses, and bridges. These books do not mention that the planes did not only destroy armories, ammunition depots, and other military targets, but also cities where tens of thousands of inhabitants lived.
