Doubts about what the Battle of White Mountain was and was not, what it was about, and what its true role was in the events associated with the ongoing Thirty Years' War have been expressed by many researchers in the past. The myth of this alleged battle was not supported by the facts regarding the number of people who were said to have been buried at the supposed battlefield, nor by the sequence of events that preceded or followed it. The author of this study used not only authentic documents, which, although known for a long time, have never been utilized by domestic or foreign historians (e.g., the revers of the Czech estates), but also testimonies from renowned domestic researchers of the early modern period to support the claim that this is an extensive and carefully maintained fraud for four centuries. In addition to the works of P. Skála from Zhoř, J. A. Comenius, or the correspondence between Z. V. P. Lobkovic and his wife Polyxena, other information from both this period and later was also used.
