Do you think there is only one universe? And do you believe that intelligent life on distant planets is impossible? Do you reject the idea that humanoid and non-humanoid races thrive elsewhere, sharing the same concerns or experiencing similar joys as we do, albeit in slightly or radically different ways; in the context of their culture, their perception of reality, and their understanding of their own world? You dismiss such thoughts. But why? Because scientists claim that life at the level of intelligent beings beyond Earth is not possible. Yet, when you lift your eyes to the starry sky, you somehow sense, and cannot quite say where that feeling comes from, that scientists may not be entirely right. And I have that same feeling. That is why I wrote the collection of stories NYX, to confirm to you that yes, they are out there – aliens who have created unique cultures. They have much in common with us, even though they are often made of a different essence than we are.
