What if it happened to them is a continuation of the novel Simply, it happened to me, and I must admit that my experiences with multi-part books are not very good. Usually, the second part is just a weak imitation of the first, with exceptions, of course. What if it happened to them clearly belongs among such bright exceptions. In the first part, the author set the bar quite high and managed to maintain it until the very last period. A woman disappointed by the false love of a married man is a theme that appears quite often in literature, but in this case, it is handled in a very original and believable way. Although I have never experienced what the main character did, I was able to fully identify with her feelings. Ema is an incredibly authentically portrayed character, a flesh-and-blood being who has gone through her own private hell, cynical, sarcastic, occasionally vulgar, but all of that is just a mask, a protective cloak that helps her cope with great pain and disappointment. The writer Mária Blšáková is an excellent observer and a good connoisseur of human psychology, which is why her works are not the kind you forget just a few days after reading.
