Description
Erwein Sigismund von Thun-Hohenstein was executed by Soviet troops on February 12, 1946, as a major in the Wehrmacht. Several years after his death, someone suggested that his persona could be used for further communist propaganda. At that time, manipulated trials were taking place in Czechoslovakia. The nobility had their property confiscated, making it convenient to showcase how inhumane the aristocracy was. Erwein was accused of terrible crimes that occurred in January 1945, for which no one could be convicted. Long after the war, Erwein's photograph is shown to survivors, creating a new narrative. The true story is told by his granddaughter, who, as a child, had no idea why she could not know her grandfather...
