The book, whose author was an officer in Guderian's units during World War II, is an extensive pictorial biography of General Heinz Guderian, the supreme commander of the Wehrmacht's armored forces. For his unorthodox views on the role and use of armored units, which he was able to defend unwaveringly even before the highest authorities, Guderian was removed from his position three times during the war; however, developments on the front lines ultimately proved him right. The rich documentary material is accompanied by excerpts from Guderian's book Memories of a General.
