Description
The book Rifles and Submachine Guns is divided into three parts. The first part describes and illustrates the 'first generation' bolt-action and automatic rifles, which use rifle cartridges and were constructed as early as the late 19th century. The second part of the book is dedicated to submachine guns, which became widely used during World War II and whose development continues to this day. The third part discusses 'second generation' automatic rifles – assault rifles – currently the most widespread firearms, found in the arsenals of many countries and mostly using medium or reduced ballistic performance cartridges. It also describes the relatively few models of automatic carbines from the post-war period. The appendices contain data describing the cartridges and calibers of firearms, ammunition belts and clips, bayonets, and other accessories.
