Description
In this Czech-language biography, jazz musician Laďa Kerndl, nicknamed the “Czech Sinatra”, looks back on his eventful personal life and rich career on the occasion of his seventieth birthday. He spends a quarter of a century performing world standards for high society on ocean liners, but at the height of his powers, aggressive throat cancer brings him to his knees. Doctors give him no chance of survival, and he experiences clinical death twice. Yet he finds the will to live and recover. At the age of fifty, he rises from the depths, establishes himself in the demanding world of show business and secures a place among the brightest stars of the Czech cultural scene. How does he manage it, who makes him long for life and break free from the embrace of death, and which prominent figures does he meet along the way?
