Description
The author, a fighter pilot, distinguished himself in aerial battles against the Japanese during World War II. After the war, he became a famous and admired hero, and according to the book God is My Co-Pilot, a film was even made about him. He was invited to various appearances and lectures. Later, he led a jet fighter pilot school in Arizona; in Germany, he served at a military airbase. When he returned to the United States after some time, he studied at the National War College and was promoted to general. After tremendous effort, the pilot and adventurer made it to China, which he had admired since childhood, to traverse the entire length of the Great Wall of China, which he vividly describes in the final chapters.
