Description
The book 'Journey to Hell' is a personal testimony from a prominent figure of the German anti-Hitler opposition, Hans Bernd Gisevius (1904–1974), one of the few who managed to escape the repressive apparatus of the Greater German Reich. It was first published during the Nuremberg Trials of German war criminals and was almost immediately translated into Czech. The author provides a personal account of the development of the German National Socialist power system from its rise to power until the outbreak of World War II. The last part of the book is dedicated to a detailed description of the so-called Operation Valkyrie, the unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler in the summer of 1944. The book is being released in a revised edition, supplemented with an extensive commentary.
