Description
The novel The Valley of Seven Months from 1960 (published in Czech in 1963) is based, like the author's most famous novel The Hour of Dead Eyes, on the author's experiences during childhood and adolescence in the Upper Silesia region, where German and Polish populations intertwined. The plot of the novel is distinctly focused on the Polish working class, which corresponded to the ideological presentation of the East German regime; however, the author does not fall into ideological schemes and clichés, demonstrating excellent narrative talent and the ability to present a gripping story.
