Description
The final volume of the annotated Collected Works of Bohumil Hrabal brings together texts from 1988–1995 that the author himself classed as literary journalism – journalism with literary ambitions, including the famous Letters to Dubenka (Dopisy Dubence). The title Pojízdná zpovědnice (The Mobile Confessional) goes back to Hrabal’s original plan to write a series of stories loosely linked by bus journeys between Prague and Kersko; the only finished story became Potopená katedrála (The Sunken Cathedral), and the rest of the project was shaped by political events and his trip to the USA in spring 1989. In this edition Hrabal’s texts form one block, arranged chronologically. The Collected Works of Bohumil Hrabal won the Magnesia Litera 2019 award for publishing achievement.
