Description
This hardcover selection traces the journey from literary studies in the second half of the 20th century through bibliography to the study of book culture, now pursued according to the opportunities and needs of the new millennium. The scholarly articles, originally written for specialist journals, are complemented by two personal appeals to the study of book culture and three thematically distinct interviews with Jan Linka, Lucie Storchová and Jiří Trávníček. The selection presents at least part of the potential offered by this new field not only to a wider audience but also to colleagues in the humanities. Following the 2021 publication of the anthology What Is Book History?, a collection of foreign texts in the Book Culture series, this carefully conceived volume indicates the specific features of domestic research and highlights the similarities and differences between foreign and Czech book scholarship. The contents are in Czech.
