Slovinsko-český slovník – Blažek David (2025)

After many years, a publication is reaching readers that will be particularly appreciated by experts in the Slovak and Czech studies community. The meticulously detailed Slovene-Czech Dictionary is a valuable tool for educators and students who have so far relied on dictionaries that are inadequate in many respects. PhDr. David Blažek, Ph.D., a Slovene scholar and lexicographer with practical experience in translation and interpreting, has prepared a dictionary that meets all the requirements for language study and further professional and scientific work. A Slovene-Czech dictionary of this scope (almost 26,000 entries) has not been published in the Czech context before. The dictionary is clearly structured. In the introductory section, users can familiarize themselves with the system of the Slovene language and practical guidance for using the dictionary. Following the main dictionary section is a list of Slovene abbreviations and geographical names. In addition to common vocabulary, the dictionary includes terms, colloquial and slang expressions, as well as frequently used proverbs and phrases. The entries are supplemented with numerous examples in the form of word or sentence combinations with corresponding Czech equivalents. The entries indicate, among other things, the position of stress and the quality or quantity of vowels.
