Description
The book 'Around the Mediterranean' is a collection of texts by Braudel that relate to his seminal work 'The Mediterranean and the Mediterranean World in the Age of Philip II.' The collection consists of three parts, geographically dedicated to North Africa, Spain, and Italy, and includes Braudel's articles and book reviews on the topic of the Mediterranean in the 16th-17th centuries. It particularly allows historians a better insight into Braudel's working methods, the preparations, and the overall creation of the work, which emerged from Braudel's dissertation (1947) and was later refined and slightly revised by the author (1966). Since its first publication in 1949, the book has seen eight additional editions in France. Unfortunately, Czech readers first encounter texts related to this great work before the work itself; hopefully, our publishing house will soon manage to fill this gap.
