The collection of essays "On the Margins of the Literary Work of Czech Visual Artists" is dedicated to the texts of Czech visual artists of the 20th century, whose literary activities form a minority yet noteworthy part of their work. It features authors from various generations and diverse temperaments, engaged in painting, drawing, graphics, sculpture, photography, and film. The individual chapters are conceived monographically, genre-wise, thematically, or with a focus on a specific artistic trend, group, or circle. It is not so much an analysis of intermedial connections, but rather a reflection on selected texts as autonomous expressions of meaningful events. The inquiry here is carried by the question of how the artistic focus of their authors has a relevant influence on the nature of the texts. Implicitly, the chosen theme also opens the question of the relationship between the margins, or margins, and the center of the socially shared literary space, highlighting the possibility of enriching the existing image of Czech literature of that period with additional facets.
