Description
Nematodes of the family Philometridae represent one of the most significant groups of fish parasites. This book is the first monograph dealing with these parasites, enabling their species identification. In addition to five short general chapters, the book provides identification keys, diagnoses of higher taxonomic units, and descriptions and illustrations of all species of these nematodes parasitizing in the tissues and body cavities of freshwater and marine fish. The text also provides information about their hosts, localization in the host, distribution, and, where data exists, also about their life cycles and ecology. In this way, the book discusses 221 species of nematodes belonging to 18 genera from three subfamilies of these parasites.
