Description
The second volume of the new Czech translation of selected Mayakovsky's verses offers the reader a total of seven poems that can thematically be labeled as public: these are 150,000,000 from 1919-1920; IV. International and Fifth International, both published in 1922; the poem Vladimir Ilyich Lenin from 1924, written in direct response to Lenin's death that same year; The Flying Proletarian dated 1925; Correct! (1927); and finally the poem From the Bottom of My Heart, which was published at the turn of 1929-1930, just before Mayakovsky's death, and is considered unfinished. Although all were created after 1917 and their political engagement in favor of the Bolshevik revolution cannot be denied, it is undeniable that these post-revolutionary Mayakovsky verses are characterized by great imagery, creativity, and often playfulness.
