Description
The second volume of the critical edition of Comenius's fundamental work De rerum humanarum emendatione consultatio catholica (General Consultation on the Reform of Human Affairs) contains the first half of the central and most extensive part of the General Consultation called Pansophia, hoc est Universalis sapientia (Pansophy, that is, Universal Wisdom). Here, Comenius elaborates a systematic system of theses on the nature of the world in the form of successive degrees: in volume 19/II, there are three out of a total of eight, namely the possible world (actually hypothetical) and two worlds of divine creation: the archetypal and the angelic. The volume is introduced with an editorial preface to the entire Pansophy as well as to the individual parts in Latin, Czech, and English. In addition to the actual edition of the Latin text, the relevant textual critical apparatus, and substantive comments, the volume also includes a bibliographic list, explanations of abbreviations, visual supplements, and indexes.
