Description
The collective monograph Republic in Change and Continuity focuses on the social history and the history of social and political thought during the interwar period of Czechoslovakia. It introduces broad groups of readers to the intriguing issues of searching for ideas of a new state and the disputes over the so-called philosophy of Czech history. Another important focus of the book is the development in the fields of social and health care, hygiene, and the fight against infectious diseases. Both of these areas are connected by themes of public communication, education, and upbringing, both in the fields of education and pedagogy, as well as in the environment of a new, rapidly spreading medium – film. The publication thus has the potential to raise a number of new questions and contribute to the reflection on the history of Czechoslovakia during the interwar period. The individual texts are accompanied by period photographs.
