Description
The collective monograph Republic between Equality, Diversity, and Unity brings chapters that introduce the issues of social and religious questions of the new Czechoslovak state to the broadest groups of readers. Several studies focus on the status of women after 1918 and the activities of some of their associations, the contemporary social conflict regarding the issue of abortion and contraception, and last but not least, the efforts to decriminalize relationships between people of the same sex and eliminate their social stigma. Another group of contributions deals with religious questions, including the significant topic of the emergence of so-called national churches, various perspectives and starting points on religious matters, and the position of the Roman Catholic Church and evangelical churches in the new republic.
