Description
This volume concludes the six-part series Butterflies and Caterpillars of Central Europe, published by Academia since 2007. It includes the remaining eleven families. All species found in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are briefly characterized and illustrated, totaling about 1200 species. Each entry includes wing span, important identification features, host plant, time of occurrence of caterpillars and adults, habitat, overall distribution, and observations on their occurrence in our territory. Other Central European species (approximately 1500 species of these families are known from Central Europe) are at least mentioned or briefly commented on. The complete series of atlases thus provides basic information about all families and the vast majority of Central European butterfly species, making it unparalleled in our country and elsewhere in Central Europe.
