The monograph deals with the toponymy of the capital city of Prague from the end of World War II to 1989. It applies an interdisciplinary approach to the research of names of public spaces in Prague, utilizing various methods and providing a comprehensive view of the urban toponymy of that era. The development of the system of names of urban public spaces is traced in the book through honorific names, based on which the formation of the Prague toponymic landscape as a politicized space, reacting to historical upheavals and the power claims of the ruling elites, can be best described. The book gives space not only to names that can be seen on street signs at the corners of buildings but also to those that are not recorded anywhere, yet the city's residents know and use them well.
