Description
The book is an interdisciplinary and multimethodological study of homelessness in the Czech Republic. The author shows readers how homelessness materializes at the intersection of political and economic factors, such as the democratization of society or integration into the global economy, and specific accompanying logics arising at the border of street culture and certain conditions characteristic of Czech society. Against the backdrop of a case study of Plzeň and a comparison with some elements of homelessness in the United States and slums in Latin America, he argues that homelessness is not an exclusion from society, as is generally accepted by both the lay public and a large part of the expert community, but rather a systemic component of contemporary cities.
