Description
The third volume of the Artistic Monuments of Moravia and Silesia organically follows the previous volumes (A–I, 1994; J–N, 1999) – in form, research methodology, and processing; all of this was explained in the Introduction of the first volume of UPMS. In the defined area (see the map in the proposed appendix), it deals with 270 settlement units, cities, towns, villages, and their parts in alphabetical order under numbers 655–802, containing works of artistic nature ranging from Slavic culture to the present. It addresses historical urbanism, creations from the fields of architecture, sculpture, painting, and applied arts – if they are located in situ. It also mentions deposit institutions, archives, and museums, and collectively characterizes their artistic collections. An important part of this volume is the index of artists with basic biographical data, including over 3000 names contained in previously published works, as well as the visual component representing 2010 photographs and 356 drawings.
