Description
On March 1, 1983, the bodies of Arthur Koestler and his wife Cynthia were found in their home on Montpelier Square in London. He was 77, she was 55 years old. It was a suicide. Arthur Koestler suffered from Parkinson's disease and leukemia. Cynthia, his third wife, a former secretary, enjoyed perfect health, and after dedicating her entire active life to her husband, she sacrificed herself to him even in death. Their family friend Harold Harris found among the papers on Koestler's desk a manuscript of the third volume of Arthur's autobiography. Harris was the executor of the will and decided to prepare this work, which was alternately created by both spouses, for publication. The volume covers a large part of their shared life and reveals their exceptional mutual relationship as well as their joint death.
