Description
The first scientific monograph dedicated to the history of the German extermination camp Belzec, established as part of the 'Reinhardt' action. The author presents it in the broader context of the history of the persecution and extermination of Jews in the territory of the General Government. The book deals with the preparations for the implementation of the Holocaust in this area, describes the location and construction of the camp, characterizes its personnel, and primarily approaches the very mechanism of extermination. Attention is also paid to the subsequent dismantling of the facilities and the post-war fate of this site. The publication is the result of processing a large number of sources, including those from German archives that have not yet been utilized by Polish historians, and presents new findings regarding the number of victims of the camp.
