The authors address a topic that has not yet been explored in Czech (or Brazilian) historiography. Based on a thorough study of a significant amount of archival materials, they have compiled a comprehensive overview of the activities of the State Security in the largest South American country. Each significant action of the officers of the First Administration is dedicated to a special chapter, and the book focuses on a detailed analysis of active measures while highlighting the growing influence of communist intelligence agencies on Brazilian politics and administration. Special attention is given to the issue of cooperation among Eastern Bloc intelligence agencies and their subordination to the KGB. In many chapters, the authors trace how the StB is tasked from Moscow and how it fulfills assignments that have nothing to do with the interests of Czechoslovakia.
