Description
Boundaries accompany a person from their first steps on planet Earth. They are both conceptual and real, existing in space and in the human mind. They create the limits by which society defines itself based on various ideas, ideologies, and interest or controlled landscapes and territorial units – regions. Regions have evolved and changed over time. Their location, extent, and boundaries have been shaped by geographical conditions and the interests of various population groups sharing common power, national, economic, cultural, and other often very specific goals. Thus, boundaries have become a significant civilizational, historical, and geographical value. The publication 'Boundaries in Landscapes' will offer various, often unconventional perspectives on Central European borders and provide a comparison between the beginnings of medieval borders and modern ones, particularly in the 20th century.
