Description
The book presents a view of the community of early agricultural populations in the first half of the 5th millennium BC. It is a case study focused on the spatial framework of Eastern Bohemia, which during this period represents the periphery of the former western prehistoric cultural circle. The exclusivity of the area becomes evident especially from a broader Central European perspective, particularly regarding the issues of long-distance distribution of stone raw materials. These are key attributes that allow for modeling the regional settlement hierarchy as well as identifying individuals or groups with exceptional social status. The basic starting platform of the book is the evaluation of the results of the archaeological excavation of two Neolithic settlements, studied in an above-standard scope.
