Description
The introduction of the book discusses the living environment of animals in our territory, non-native species and their significance, species living alongside humans, the practical importance of animals, the issues surrounding their protection, and systematic classification. The special section includes individual groups of animals from sponges and cnidarians to mammals. From the species-rich groups of insects and other invertebrates, significant representatives are selected, as well as a cross-section of lesser-known and inconspicuous groups. Vertebrates are characterized in more detail, and all their species are briefly described and illustrated (for birds, at least the more significant species). The book contains 193 color plates.
