Description
The first volume of the critical edition of Comenius's correspondence includes 71 letters sent and received from 1628 to December 1638. These are letters from the first stay in Lešno, during which Comenius established contacts with leading figures of the contemporary republic of scholars. The most significant centers of Comenius's correspondence network, where the letters from this period were written or directed, were Lešno, London, Gdańsk, and Amsterdam. The volume contains, in addition to a preface, a textual critical apparatus and substantive comments, summaries of individual letters, a bibliographic list, visual appendices, and indexes of persons, works, and geographical names.
