Description
The book deals with the literary and journalistic activities of President T. G. Masaryk, through which he sought to influence public opinion and engaged in various current disputes. The focus is particularly on anonymous journalism, that is, articles he wrote under pseudonyms or published unsigned. Masaryk built on his earlier wartime and pre-war activities, but after the war, he was more constrained by political considerations and the delineation of the powers of the head of state. He attempted to resolve (or circumvent) this situation, among other things, by publishing anonymous articles in which he could express himself more freely than in signed texts or official speeches. This work aims to analyze this aspect of Masaryk's activity, including a description of the mechanisms by which the president realized his interventions in public affairs.
