Description
The Czech Progressive State Party represents a unique entity in Czech politics in the years leading up to World War I and the subsequent dramatic wartime period. Although it was not one of the large and influential parties, it significantly asserted itself on the political scene of the time, often playing the role of a solitary figure, represented by numerous distinct individuals. It operated for only ten years, six of which were in standard peacetime conditions, but during a period of revolutionary historical events and trials, it repeatedly manifested itself in a fundamental way, thus characteristically marking its place in Czech history of the 20th century.
