Description
The author wrote his epic not as a pathetically grand story of this literary genre, but as a poetic description of life in the Theresienstadt ghetto. The report consists of hastily recorded reflections that Hartmann used to understand the fates of the ghetto's inhabitants. At the same time, he wanted to leave a testimony about life, events, and those who, in anticipation of their death, "prayed for eternal peace, humanity, and love." From simple verses, lightly ironic images from the ghetto are composed, transitioning into a ballad that its author writes increasingly with a "smile through tears." With his growing nostalgia and consideration for the presumed readers, he leaves his insights to those he believed would want to understand him. It is published in the Memory edition.
