Description
The theme of this document edition is the activities of the State Security against Professor Jan Patočka. The publication is based on predominantly unpublished archival sources from the StB. The manuscript of the critical edition includes a total of 120 documents from the period of 1960 to 1984. These consist of various operational reports, protocols from the interrogations of Jan Patočka from 1977, and extraordinary information regarding the reactions to his death. The documentation provides the first written evidence of the extensive measures taken by the secret police in connection with Patočka's funeral. The introductory study also addresses the unsuccessful attempt by the Office for Documentation and Investigation of the Crimes of Communism to legally prosecute members of the secret police who 'interrogated' Jan Patočka in March 1977.
