Description
The book deals with the themes of anti-democratic and nationalist tendencies within Czech and German Catholicism in Czechoslovakia during the interwar period. The issue is also mentioned in a Central European context, particularly emphasizing developments in Austria and Germany. Attention is also given to the papal politics of this period, which, in its effort for a more offensive presence of the church in the public space, brought about consequences for the attitudes of Catholic circles in our country and was simultaneously confronted with the rise of authoritarian and totalitarian regimes in Europe.
