Description
This Czech-language publication, the result of the 2011–2013 grant project Capital Letters in Czech, provides a detailed description of this problematic area of Czech orthography. It explains what proper names are, the general principles governing the use of capital letters, and the individual types of names. The authors focus especially on names whose spelling in practice often differs from the current codification, and they also include names not covered by the Rules of Czech Orthography but whose spelling repeatedly causes difficulties, as shown by language-advisory enquiries.
