Description
The dictionaries of Daniel Adam of Veleslavín are among the most significant works in the history of Czech lexicography, both in terms of their scope and their influence on the Czech language. Thanks to them, Czech gained recognition among the major European languages and, by the end of the 16th century, achieved a certain level of linguistic maturity, which the Czech national revival could easily build upon in the 19th century. The newly published critical edition of the Nomenclator quadrilinguis, an important contemporary document on Czech vocabulary, is prepared for use by experts, students, and interested members of the general public. The accompanying CD also contains digital copies of the original book and tools for easy searching within the dictionary.
