Description
The book maps the institutional development of Czech science in detail through period documents and photographs, from the 18th century when the Society of Unknown Scholars in the Austrian Lands was founded in Olomouc, to the establishment of the Czech Academy of Sciences after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, and the twenty years of development of independent Czech science following the Velvet Revolution.
