Description
It is the story of a boy, his relatives, and the people he came into contact with during the escalating anti-Jewish measures of 1942, when there was an "accelerated processing" of Jews consisting of: their identification and labeling, severing all social ties, restricting all activities, confiscating all property, internment, and deportation (when the boy was 13 and a half) to Birkenau. It describes the boy's six-month stay, during which he was left alone after a few days, in Birkenau, his approximately three-month stay in the Main Camp of Auschwitz, where he lived to see liberation, as well as his two-month journey through Poland and Hungary to Southern Slovakia and the beginnings of his adaptation "at home."
