Description
In 1932, a little girl named Ludmilka is born into the family of Czech communist official Josef, living in Novosibirsk, Russia. Her idyllic childhood, filled with luxury and carefree moments, suddenly turns into a dark tale of red malevolence. Shortly after Josef falls out of favor with the Bolshevik leaders, the entire family flees to safety in Czechoslovakia. But happiness does not come free and for everyone... World War II, Nazism, and last but not least, the rise of communism to power in 1948 once again pushes Josef's family to the very edge of human existence. Josef is accused of treason and sentenced to many years in prison. Meanwhile, Ludmila, far beyond the prison gates, tries to stand on her own two feet, find herself, and live as best as she can. However, the pressure of political events indirectly destroys everything she desperately tries to save: family, work relationships, and ultimately her marriage. In her moment of greatest loneliness, something appears out of nowhere. A seemingly simple reason that forces her to change her rigid view of the world, to face her life, and to love it just as it is...
