Description
In the sandstone mountains of the Elbe in Saxon Switzerland, one of the most popular hiking stages in Germany is found. The eighteen km long section between Lichtenhainer Wasserfall and Schmilka is considered the royal scene - a route that has enjoyed hiking fame for two hundred years and inspired artists of Romanticism, including Caspar David Friedrich. The MALERWEG MAPING MAP represents the hiking trail of the same name in a Leporello design, which leads through the mountainous terrain. The starting point is Liebethal on the right side of the Elbe, after sixty-eight km the Elbe is crossed and the Malerweg continues on the left side of the Elbe through Königstein to the destination Pirna. The entire route is divided into eight stages in the Info section of the Painter Path Map, allowing hikers to enjoy the unique rocky landscape in the Saxon Switzerland National Park.
