Description
The sixties have begun, ushering in the Age of Aquarius. Adolf Eichmann is sentenced to death in Jerusalem. Konrad Adenauer promises military aid to Israel. At the same time, however, German aircraft designers, engine builders, and rocket technicians are drawn in large numbers to Egypt. Rita Hellberg, daughter of an engineer, only intends to visit her parents in Cairo. But her father decides: The family belongs together. Egypt's President Nasser dreams of an African arms industry, and so her father builds a fighter bomber. While her mother refuses to adapt to life in Cairo, Rita soon realizes that there can be no better place for her to step into her own future. She gets swept up in a fascinating world in transition. Only over time does she understand that she has landed in the midst of a conflict where historical and future, global and regional interests are fought for by all means. Everyone is watching everyone, bombs explode, people die. Rita Hellberg must decide where she stands.
