Description
Akane enters the world of rakugo to avenge her father and prove that his art deserved the title of shin'uchi. Her father, Shinta Arakawa, dreams of passing the shin'uchi exam and becoming a top-rank headliner and master storyteller in the traditional Japanese art of rakugo. Akane is his biggest fan and secretly practices the same performances while watching him through the closed door of his study. When rakugo master Issho Arakawa expels everyone after the exam without explanation, Akane dedicates herself to avenging her father. She accompanies her senior apprentice Kyoji to a retirement home, where she must perform as his zenza opening act and offer rakugo that pleases the audience. Later, she discovers a student rakugo competition judged by Issho Arakawa, the man who banished her father from the Arakawa school. Her master Shiguma allows her to enter under one unique, tongue-twisting condition: “Jugemu.”
