Description
This book presents a new edition of Clive Harcourt Carruthers’ 1964 translation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland into Latin. It differs from the original chiefly through a regular distinction between the vowel i and the consonant j, while long vowels are consistently marked with macrons. Vowel lengths have been carefully examined throughout, including those in syllables made long by position; in a few cases where the classical length is uncertain or usage evidently varied, the vowels are left unmarked. The Latin-English glossary at the end has been greatly expanded: alongside nearly twenty Neo-Latin words and phrases specific to the book, it now includes more than two hundred less common classical words, allowing more readers to enjoy Carruthers’ Latin translation without consulting other dictionaries. The text is in Latin, with an English glossary.
