Description
In spring, Lara’s three grown daughters return to the family orchard. While picking cherries, they ask their mother to tell them the story they have always wanted to hear: about the film star with whom she once shared a stage and a romance. Peter Duke later becomes a famous actor, but when Lara falls wildly in love with him at twenty-four, he is not famous at all, and the relationship feels like jumping from a roof at midnight. Both hopeful and elegiac, it explores what it means to be happy even when the world is falling apart.
