Description

Birdie is keeping it together, of course she is. She is a little hungover during her shifts and has to bring her daughter Emaleen to the lodge while she waits tables, but Emaleen never goes hungry. Being a single mother in this tough town is difficult, and Birdie simply needs to get by. Then she meets Arthur, a quieter man who makes her want to listen, who is gentle with Emaleen and understands Birdie’s fascination with the mountains beneath which they live. When Arthur asks Birdie and Emaleen to leave the lodge and make a home with him in his off-grid cabin, Birdie says yes without hesitation. In the wilderness, her days are harsher and richer than she ever imagined. There she feels truly at one with nature, while she and Emaleen learn the frightening truth about Arthur.
