Description
This thrilling twenty-fourth novel in Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Millhone Alphabet series follows private investigator Kinsey Millhone as two seemingly unrelated cases lead her into danger. When a glamorous redhead asks Kinsey to locate the son she gave up for adoption thirty-two years earlier, it appears to be an easy two hundred dollars. But after a police officer tells Kinsey she was paid with marked bills and her client disappears, it becomes clear that the mysterious woman is hiding something. Meanwhile, the widow of Kinsey’s recently murdered friend and fellow private investigator, Pete Wolinsky, asks for help with an IRS audit. What seems like an innocuous task takes a sinister turn when Kinsey discovers a coded list among Pete’s files. It leads to an unhinged man who has left a catalogue of ruined lives behind him without a single conviction. As Kinsey investigates further, she becomes the tormentor’s next target. Can she prove her case before she becomes his next victim?
